Echinodorus ozelot Red is a richly coloured form of the popular ozelot hybrid, combining the characteristic dark spotting of the ozelot with striking red to bronze leaf colouration. New leaves emerge with the most intense red, providing vivid colour that shifts through shades of bronze and brown-green as the plant matures.
Care is uncomplicated. Medium light and a nutrient-rich substrate are all it needs to grow well, with no CO2 injection required. The red colouration is most pronounced under good light and with adequate iron and micronutrients available through the substrate or a liquid fertiliser.
Supplied as an established potted plant, Echinodorus ozelot Red reaches 20–35 cm in height and is best placed in the midground of aquariums from 100 litres upward. The warm tones of the leaves create an eye-catching contrast against green-leafed neighbouring plants.
