Echinodorus Red Wild Grass is an unusual sword plant cultivar producing a dense cluster of narrow, grass-like leaves with a warm red to brown-red tint. Unlike the broad-leafed Echinodorus more commonly seen in aquariums, this variety has a fine-textured, almost meadow-like appearance that adds variety to planted layouts.
It is easy to care for, growing under medium light without CO2 injection. A nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs support the growth of the dense root system that all Echinodorus rely on. The reddish tones in the leaves are most pronounced under good light and with iron available in the substrate or fertiliser.
Supplied as an established potted plant, Echinodorus Red Wild Grass typically reaches 15–25 cm and suits the midground of aquariums from 80 litres upward. Its distinctive, grass-like texture contrasts well with broad-leafed plants and adds a naturalistic, wild look to planted compositions.
