Ammania gracilis is a demanding stem plant that rewards effort with outstanding colour. Under high light and CO2, the narrow leaves glow with copper, amber, and orange tones that are unlike almost anything else available in the hobby. It's best suited to high-tech planted tank setups where conditions can be closely maintained.
Growth is relatively fast under the right conditions. Regular trimming keeps it compact and encourages bushy side shoots rather than tall, leggy stems. Micronutrient dosing is important — without trace elements the colour fades quickly and new leaves may show signs of deficiency.
Plant in groups of five or more stems in the midground or background. The warm amber tones contrast beautifully with cooler green plants in a structured aquascape.
