Description
A natural bamboo tube pre-grown with Java moss, creating an unusual vertical planted feature that combines the clean cylindrical form of bamboo with the soft trailing texture of live moss. The combination is a popular choice in Japanese-influenced aquarium styles — the bamboo provides a distinctive natural aesthetic while the Java moss adds organic softness and valuable texture for shrimp and small fish.
Java moss is one of the easiest aquarium plants available. It grows in low light without CO2 injection and tolerates a wide range of water conditions. The moss provides shelter and grazing surface for shrimp and fry, and over time it may spread further along the bamboo surface and onto adjacent areas of the tank.
The moss is pre-established on the bamboo so no further attachment is needed — simply rinse and place in the aquarium. The bamboo can be positioned upright, angled, or laid flat depending on the aesthetic you want. Well suited to aquariums of 20 litres and above and particularly effective in shrimp tanks and nature-style aquascapes.

Well covered piece of bamboo. My shrimp like foraging in it. Word of caution, after I added this to my tank, a few days later I had an explosion of snails. I'm still dealing with it weeks later. Make sure you dip or thoroughly rinse before adding to your tank. But it is a very good product.

it;s exactly what it says on the tin only issue i've personally had is that some of the bamboo cane is covered in brown presumibly dead moss but it is starting to grow back

Looks great in my blackwater setup - the vibrancy of the green moss really pops. Was fully waterlogged so sank immediately and was completely covered in healthy moss.

I have had this a few months now and it continues to keep healthy in with my neocaridina shrimps. The shrimplets love the inside, with the others enjoying the surfaces to eat from and hang upside down on. Really impressed with the condition a few months on - neither overgrown nor dying off so incredibly low maintenance and high instant impact. Everything I have had from AE has been exceptional quality and I highly recommend this piece for shrimp set ups.

If you do not want moss on mats these are perfect for instant aqua scraping a shrimp tank . I placed one semi vertically and the other on the substrate, looks like a huge moss covered log (in scale) that you would find in the Amazon. Amazing value. The shrimps spend all day grazing and cleaning them. Lovely. Well done Aqua Essentials.

These are bigger than you expect... 20cms just looks so small on a tape measure. It's an instant beast in the tank, took a day or two but started growing well now.

Quite impressed with the size of these.. Mostly green, teeny bits of brown but it comes with the territory I'm sure. Bought this with some other bits including some wood and a lily pipe. Fast as you like service and delivery.
Is bamboo safe for aquarium use?
Yes — the bamboo used here is aquarium-safe and non-toxic to fish and shrimp. It may release minimal tannins initially which is harmless.
Does the moss need CO2 or specialist lighting?
No — Java moss is one of the most low-tech plants available and grows under standard aquarium lighting without CO2.
Will shrimp use it?
Yes — shrimp are naturally attracted to the moss surface for grazing and will also shelter inside or around the bamboo tube.
Do I need to do anything when it arrives?

Will the moss spread?
