Description
Ceratopteris siliquosa — the Sumatra fern — is a decorative aquatic fern producing irregularly shaped, lightly textured light green leaves on a compact rhizome. It grows to approximately 60cm in height in good conditions, making it a suitable background plant for medium and large aquariums. Each leaf takes its own individual shape, adding a natural, organic quality rather than the uniform appearance of many cultivated aquarium plants.
It grows at a good pace once rooted, with strong roots that permeate the substrate and anchor the plant securely. Propagate by trimming lateral shoots and replanting them. No CO2 required, though moderate lighting supports good growth. It's tolerant of a wide range of conditions and well suited to planted tanks at any experience level.

Is it the same as Water Sprite?
No — siliquosa is a different species from Ceratopteris thalictroides. Both are aquatic ferns but siliquosa has broader, less finely divided leaves and grows in a different form.
How large does it get?
Approximately 60cm tall in good conditions — a proper background plant for larger aquariums.

No — it grows without CO2. Moderate lighting supports the best growth.
