    Description

Ceratopteris thalictroides — Water Sprite — is a fast-growing aquatic fern with finely divided, feathery leaves that add soft texture and naturalistic movement to any aquarium. It is one of the most adaptable and beginner-friendly aquarium plants available, growing quickly in a range of conditions and absorbing excess nutrients that would otherwise fuel algae growth.

It can be used as a floating plant at the surface (where it also provides cover for shy fish and fry) or planted in the substrate. Either way it grows quickly — in smaller tanks the growth rate may require regular management to keep it in check. As a floating plant it develops hanging roots that provide additional cover and biological activity.

Water Sprite performs best with gentle flow and lighter substrates when planted. No CO2 required.
