What is 'crypt melt'?
When moved to a new environment, Cryptocoryne sometimes dissolve their leaves. This is normal — leave the rhizome in place and new leaves will regrow within a few weeks.
Why is beckettii considered one of the easiest Crypts?
It tolerates a wider range of water conditions than most Cryptocoryne — including variations in temperature, pH, and hardness — making it more forgiving for beginners.
Does it need CO2?
No — grows well without CO2. Nutrient-rich substrate or root tabs support good growth.
How small does it stay?
Typically 10–20cm — a compact species well suited to foreground to midground positioning.
How do I plant it?
Plant roots in the substrate without burying the crown. It spreads via runners and forms a tidy clump over time.
