Ludwigia repens Diamond Red is a vivid cultivar of Ludwigia repens selected for its intensely red leaf surfaces that display a subtly crystalline or glittering quality in good light. The oval to lance-shaped leaves cover both upper and lower surfaces in rich red-burgundy, making it one of the more visually impactful mid-range red stem plants in the hobby.
It grows best with medium to bright light and CO2 supplementation for the most sustained, vivid colouration and compact internodes. Without CO2 the leaves tend toward olive-red rather than the deep red tones it is capable of. Iron-rich fertilisation helps maintain the pigmentation on new growth over time.
Supplied as an established potted plant, Ludwigia repens Diamond Red suits aquariums from 50 litres upward in the midground to background. Its rich red colouration and manageable care requirements make it a popular bridge between easy low-tech reds and more demanding advanced species.
