WHAT TO EXPECT

Tissue cultured plants are supplied young and grown in a sterile environment, so they arrive free from snails, algae and pesticide residue. They may look smaller on arrival, but each cup contains multiple plantlets designed to be divided and planted out, where they establish quickly with minimal melt and grow into place.

Phyllanthus fluitans, often known as red root floater, is an attractive floating plant with rounded leaves that range from green to deep red under strong lighting. Fine red roots hang beneath the surface, adding colour and texture while also providing shelter for fish and shrimp.

It grows freely on the water surface and does not require planting. Brighter light encourages more intense red colouring and compact leaf growth, while calmer surface movement helps it establish evenly. Regular thinning is recommended, as it can multiply quickly and shade plants below if left unchecked. Particularly well suited to open-top aquariums and aquascapes where surface detail matters.

Supplied as a Tropica 1-2-Grow laboratory-grown plant. Snail, algae and pesticide free, and safe for shrimp and sensitive fish.

Note: portion size is rarely as big as the picture. In our experience, this plant often arrives with us from Tropica with less plant mass.

Received the floaters is bad condition they where all nearly died as there was bearly any water in the pot. After a few days they all died.

Sorry to read that. This plant needs a dry environment to flourish. If it's kept in tank with a closed lid, it quickly becomes saturated and dies.

I-2-Dead!

It took a week to reach me, and was a dead mush when I opened it. :-(

Really sorry to read as it would have left us in perfect condition. If plants take 7 days to get to their destination in sub zero temps they won't do well. This is why have been recommending Express Delivery to all customers to avoid delays from Royal Mail. Express Delivery arrives in one working day.

1. Grown in a laboratory

Tissue Cultured Plants are unique in so much as they are grown in a laboratory and not a greenhouse. As a result of this, a cast iron guarantee is offered which is 100% so snails and no pesticides.

2. How to handle them

They're a bit different from potted plants because they're grown in an agae solution that contains nutrients and hormones to encrougage plants to grow. Some agar is liquid, others are more solid depending on what the growers prefers. Regardless once they arrive with you, acclimatise to room temperature and then rinse under luke warm tap water. Then plant up.

3. Pot sizes

Nearly all TC pots are 5cm in diameter and the pots will range in fullness depending on many factors such as the natural growth speed of the plant and the time the grower has held them for. Sometimes the pots are exceptionally full and sometimes not so full - something we cannot control. But either way, they're still really good value when you look at the overall plant mass.
