    Description

Alternanthera roseafolia Mini is a compact, slow-growing Alternanthera that stays naturally low, reaching around 10–15cm in height. The red stems contrast with green-topped leaves, creating a two-tone look that adds colour to the front of the tank without growing out of hand.

It suits foreground and nano tank placement thanks to its compact habit. Like most Alternanthera, it develops its strongest colour under medium to bright lighting with CO2 supplementation. Without CO2, the plant grows more slowly and the red tones are less vibrant but still visible.

Regular trimming keeps it bushy and compact. Plant in small groups for the most attractive display.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

How small is Alternanthera roseafolia Mini?

It stays compact, reaching approximately 10–15cm in height. One of the smaller Alternanthera varieties, ideal for foreground placement or nano tanks.

    Does it need CO2?

CO2 is recommended to maintain the red colouration and encourage bushy growth. Without it the plant grows more slowly and the red tones are less intense.

    Is it easy to grow?

Reasonably easy for a red plant. More forgiving than some demanding red species but still needs medium lighting and good water quality for best results.

How do I keep it compact?

Regular trimming encourages bushy, low growth. Without trimming it will grow taller and less dense over time.

    Where should I place it?

Foreground to midground. Works well in groups of two or three stems, providing colour contrast against green background plants.
