    Description

Limnophila aromatica Green is the all-green form of the popular aromatica species, producing whorls of toothed, lance-shaped leaves along upright stems with fresh, vivid green colouration throughout. It shares the appealing whorled leaf structure of the standard aromatica while presenting a cooler, uniformly green appearance that suits a different range of planted layout styles.

Like the standard form, it grows best with medium light and CO2 supplementation. Without CO2 it can still be maintained in a well-lit aquarium but grows more slowly with a looser structure. Regular trimming produces the densest, most attractive growth and prevents the stems from becoming leggy over time.

Supplied as an established potted plant, Limnophila aromatica Green suits aquariums from 60 litres upward in the background or midground. Its toothed whorled leaves provide interesting textural contrast to broader-leafed plants and add visual complexity to the planted layout without relying on strong leaf pigmentation.

    Product FAQs

    Helpful details before you buy.

How does aromatica Green differ from standard Limnophila aromatica?

The green form lacks the reddish-purple undersides found on the standard form. Both have the same whorled, toothed leaf structure and very similar care requirements.

    Does it need CO2?

CO2 is recommended for the most compact growth. Without it the plant can be maintained in good light but may grow more loosely.

    Is it easy to keep?

It is manageable for hobbyists with medium light and ideally CO2. Care is very similar to the standard aromatica form.

    How do I propagate it?

Trim stems and replant cuttings in the substrate. They root readily and continue growing. Trimmed stems branch at the cut point, becoming progressively bushier.

What layout styles suit it best?

Its fine whorled texture works well in nature aquarium and Dutch aquarium style layouts where textural contrast between neighbouring plant groups is part of the design.
